Metro Saint Brigid’s A.C. - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

In line with Metro Saint Brigid’s (MSB) obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective from 25th May, 2018, we are in the process of establishing what information/data we have, where it is stored and who has access to this data. We fully respect your right to privacy in relation to your interactions with MSB and endeavour to keep you fully informed about what information we will collect and how we will use this information. We will handle your Personal Data in accordance with Data Protection Legislation including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679. We will endeavour to keep all personal data up-to-date and you should tell us about any changes to such information as soon as possible by direct communication with your MSB Coach and/or officer of the club.

Why we collect/have access to your information

MSB must collect data to register our athletes with the Athletics Association of Ireland (AAI), to organise club activities / events and to ensure our athletes are covered by insurance and that coaches are aware of any illness/disability relevant to the training and events our athletes participate in. This data is not shared with any other individual or organisation apart from ‘name’, ‘date of birth’ and if provided on registration form ‘address’, ‘telephone number(s)’ and “email addresses’ with AAI.

Cases where we may use your information to contact you

We may contact you when organising events, registering athletes with AAI, to keep you up to date on club developments, forth coming athletics events and other activities directly related to your/your child’s participation in athletics with MSB. Where we wish to use your personal data in any other way, we will ensure that we notify you and get your consent first. You will be given the opportunity to withhold or withdraw your consent for the use of your personal data for purposes other than those listed above.

Your rights

You have the following rights under Data Protection Legislation and MSB will comply with such rights in respect of your personal data:

  • the right of access to personal data relating to you.
  • the right to correct any mistakes in your personal data.
  • the right to ask us to stop contacting you.
  • rights in relation to automated decision taking.
  • the right to restrict or prevent your personal data being processed.
  • the right to have your personal data ported to another data controller.
  • the right to erasure.
  • the right to complain to the DPC if you believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with Data Protection Legislation.

Withdrawal of consent

If you no longer consent to our processing of your personal data, you may request that we cease such processing by contacting us directly.

Retention of personal data

Any of your personal data that you provide to us will be kept and stored for such period of time as we deem necessary taking into account the purpose for which it was collected in the first instance, and our obligations under Data Protection Legislation. In general, your personal data will be retained by MSB for as long as you (or your child) are a member of the club and for the period recommended by AAI thereafter.
