TOUGH ASSIGNMENTS FOR MSB ATHLETES AT NATIONAL SCHOOLS X/COUNTRY
As well as possibly the toughest cross country course in the country athletes were faced with what can only be described as a complete mud bath in Waterford at the Irish Life Health National Schools Cross Country Championships.
Undeterred by the challenging conditions James Bolton (Belvedere) put in a fine run in the Minor race finishing in 21st place in one of the biggest fields of the day.
Scott Fagan (LCC) made a steady start in the Junior race. Clearly relishing the hills and underfoot conditions. Scott powered home on the final lap to finish 6th overall and take a well earned place on the Irish Team at the upcoming SIAB Championships in Nottingham.
CCC girls Aisling Mohan (12th), Molly Brown (31st) & Sinéad Nic Sheoin (47th) came up just short in the senior girls race finishing 4th in the team event. The girls finish the season as Leinster Champions in their first year racing at senior level.
In the final and longest race of the day David Troy (Castkeknock College) continued a good run of form taking 15th place on his first outing at Senior level.
Well done to all of our athletes and thanks to the event organisers, for staging the races, and coaches, teachers & parents for their continued support.
