Another great day for MSB in Tallaght at Day 5 of the Dublin Juvenile Championships. Nine medals were claimed in various events.

First up was Aisling Mohan running in the tough U18G 3000m race; seven and a half laps of the track. She went straight to the front, pushed the pace and won comfortably in the end in a time of 11:06 to claim the Gold medal.

In the U16B 3000m race Alex Lanecki fresh from his recent 4th place in the Skerries Triathlon last weekend used his strength to run the distance in a very good 10:28 to take 4th place and thus qualify for nationals.

David Troy was running in the U19B 3000m and kept up with the front-runners and claimed the Silver medal in a time of 9:45

In the field events, Louie Woodger was taking part in the U14B javelin. Making the top six after the first three throws in fourth place, his fifth round throw was launched out to a PB throw of 28.86m to take second place. This was not bettered so an unexpected Silver medal was won.

The middle distance finals were up next and Leah O'Dwyer was in the U12G 600m race. She kept up with the leading pack and managed to push up to second to claim a brilliant Silver medal.

The 800m U14G final boasted five MSB athletes out of the 12 finalists which was a great sight to see. Aoife Brown led out the runners closely followed by Gara Williams. They upped the pace with 400m to go and took the Gold and Silver medals respectively. Sinead Dowling, Leila McCormack and Maddie Buckley followed up in fifth, seventh and eighth places all with PB times.

Nkem Onwumereh was looking to take the sprint double and duly delivered by winning the U15B 100m by a considerable margin.

Louie Woodger was back again in the field events this time, in his usually strongest event, the Shot Put. He could not re-produce his earlier season form but nonetheless took second place and the Silver medal with a throw of 9.63m

To complete the set of medals for MSB in sprinting, running, throwing and jumping, Ethan Monahan took a Bronze medal in the U13B High Jump with a leap of 1.30m.

Well done to all the other athletes that competed today: Paul Morgan and Alex Lanecki in the U18B and U16B 3000m races, Ben O’Neill, Jake O’Neill and Noah McCarthy in the U12B 600m, David Onwumereh in the U14B Javelin and Shot Put, Aisling O’Grady in the U13G 600m and Ethan Monahan in the U13B Javelin

Thanks to the parents, coaches and those who helped out with the officiating (Brian and Mark)
