MSB U15 Girls Team storm to victory at the Glo-Health National Cross Country Championships

A record number of MSB juvenile athletes headed south to Dungarvan to compete at the Glo-Health Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships. Storm Desmond had passed but for the first time this season our young athletes experienced real cross country conditions underfoot.

U11 Girls - Dublin champion Aoife Brown ran a superb race and was with the lead pack from the gun. Aoife stayed near the front of the field and sprinted hard to the line claiming 9th place. Gara Williams finished with an amazing burst of speed moving thought the field in the home straight to claim 45th place. Both Girls picked up team silver as part of the Dublin team.

U11 Boys - Dublin champion Thomas Bolton lead the field from the front only to be caught close to home by the closing pack. Thomas never lost focus and finished all out to claim a superb 4th place overall. Ever consistent James Monaghan running in his first nationals cruised home in 60th place. Incredibly Thomas will still be eligible to compete at U11 level next year!

The first of three MSB club teams lined out in the Girls U13 race. Sadhbh Mohan (15th), Roisin McGuinness (92nd), Aisling Sheridan (96th) and Emma Furlong (124th) all ran tough races and did the club proud in one of the biggest fields of the day. The girls gained valuable race experience and are surely a team for the future at this level.

The boys U13 team grouped really well with James Bolton (20th) and Scott Fagan (23rd) leading the charge and along with Traian Rebeqea (46th) helped the Dublin team secure bronze. Aleksander Lanecki competing for the club in his first nationals finished in 121st position.

The final race with an MSB interest was the Girls U15 event. In a race packed with future champions Aisling Mohan put in a huge performance to finish in 10th place. Close on her heels were national (1500m & 800m) track champion Molly Brown (13th) who along with Sinéad Nic Sheoin (19th), Rebecca Ward (50th), Niamh Sheridan (82nd) and Ciara Hogan (94th) secured team gold for MSB. Aisling, Molly and Sinéad also picked up team medals as part of the Dublin county and provincial teams.
