MSB St. Patrick's 5k

The MSB St. Patrick's Festival 5k Race took place today and attracted some 1400 runners. A fast flat course through the centre of Dublin which had the added attraction of being part of the main St. Patrick's Festival that took place over the weekend.
The weather was windy, rainy and, at times, sunny but the atmosphere was not dampened. The race was won by one of our own with John Coghlan coming in first over the line in 15:12. The women's race was won by Barbera Cleary of Donore Harriers in 17:04 followed closely by Catherina McKeirnen and our own MSB athlete Kate O'Neill in 4th place.
The ladies MSB team of Kate O'Neill, Emma Donlon, ladies' captain Sarah Fay and Iveta Adamova claimed a creditable 4th place. Raheny won both the ladies' and men's team race.
Special mention to Martin O'Neill and Frank Nolan of MSB who came 2nd and 3rd in the M65 category respectively.
MSB had a total of 34 athletes running in the race made up mainly of 24 junior athletes who all put in great performances with many 5k PBs.

This race takes a huge amount of organisation over many months and we'd like to say a big thankyou to all those involved who made it happen. There are too many invovled to name them all individually.
